This is not the kind of piece you rush—or hand off to AI. It is Spirit-led, born in prayer and holy unrest. Over a decade ago, I studied the Seven Mountain Prophecy. Recently, the Holy Spirit brought it back to mind, stirring a question: Is this what Christian Nationalists are using to excuse their oppression? Is this the root of Project 2025? After deeper reflection, the answer is clear: No. It is not. What follows is why—and how you can see it too.

One of the most pressing questions in 2025 for anyone who truly calls themselves a Jesus believer is this:

How can someone who wears the title “Christian” function in our society in ways that so openly contradict Christ—cooperating with, promoting, and defending the highest levels of oppression and marginalization—all in the name of Jesus?

How can someone claim to follow Christ, proclaiming the narratives and themes of the Bible for the “greater good,” while weaponizing that same Bible against the very people Jesus came to lift up?

They are the modern reflections of the ones who led Christ to the Cross in the first place—playing right into the hands of God’s redemptive plan, yes, but doing so as part of the very injustice He came to upend.

This is what I ask myself in our present world—a country that proclaims to be a “Christian, God-fearing” nation, yet refuses to live out the commandments that mattered most to our Lord.

Make it make sense.

When I speak of counterfeit Kingdom initiatives, this is what I mean.

Our Lord did not cooperate with oppression in any way. He was not sent to favor an ethnicity or gender over another, but to bring all together into the will of our Father. Recently, He made that clear to me again.

I have been without a physical church home for a long time, connected instead to various online ministries for years. After this past election, as part of the 92%, I found myself even more distrustful of our white brothers and sisters in the faith. I would have never, of my own will, chosen to be part of what my daughter and I call a PWC—a Predominantly White Church. And yet… that’s exactly where the Lord has called me in this season.

I was appalled. On my first visit, I wore my John Lewis “Good Trouble” shirt just to see if anyone would react. No one did. Instead, I received welcome and warmth. And while I worshiped in a place that felt foreign yet strangely familiar—because the presence of God is always familiar—the Holy Spirit spoke. Paraphrasing, He told me: I do not separate my children by race. Black and white mean nothing to Me. I stand for the oppressed against the oppressor. In your country, that happens to be Black people. Do not limit My power in you to only one group. I came for all.

My flesh didn’t want to hear it, but my spirit knew it was true. This PWC wasn’t perfect, but I began to notice more POC in the congregation as I attended again. My point? Yes, there are those—of every color—blinded by shiny things, complacent in their worship, and caught in the spirit of antichrist that fuels oppression and colonization. These blind spots aren’t reserved for white believers; they exist in every community, including our own.

Am I being too harsh? I don’t think so.

Recently, the Holy Spirit brought back to mind the Seven Mountain Mandate—something I studied a decade ago. I began to wonder: Is Project 2025 a desperate attempt by evangelicals to push this agenda? After deeper research, I concluded: absolutely not.

Project 2025—and all who support it, knowingly or unknowingly—is completely against the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Anyone who ignores the commandments of Christ in the Gospels to cling to Old Testament law as their primary ethic is not following Christ at all. “Christian” is a human label; following Jesus is a life of obedience to His words. And His words—His kingdom—do not look like top-down power structures that crush the marginalized. That is the work of a counterfeit kingdom.

What Is a Counterfeit Kingdom?

A counterfeit kingdom is any system—political, economic, religious—that:

  • Concentrates power in the hands of a few

  • Uses God’s name to justify injustice

  • Crushes the most vulnerable while protecting the privileged

  • Replaces love with control, and truth with propaganda

Whether it’s Project 2025, colonial “missions,” or economic exploitation, the blueprint is the same: seize control of the mountains of influence, not to serve, but to dominate.

Seven Mountain Mandate vs. Project 2025

Seven Mountain Mandate: Spiritual/theological, developed in 1970s Charismatic circles

Project 2025: Political/administrative, developed by the Heritage Foundation in early 2020s

Primary Goal

Seven Mountain Mandate: Influence culture through faith—prayer, leadership, transformation

Project 2025: Restructure government to implement conservative policies

Methodology

Seven Mountain Mandate: Cultural engagement, spiritual intercession, leadership training

Project 2025: Policy blueprints, personnel coordination, executive directives

Scope & Impact

Seven Mountain Mandate: Broad societal influence through faith communities

Project 2025: Direct government control—structural changes and agency overhaul

Sacred Resistance Declaration

We believe the reign of Christ is rooted in love, justice, and the liberation of the oppressed from empire and into the Kingdom of God.

We reject every attempt to use the name of God to justify harm.

We will not bow to counterfeit kingdoms—whether they come wrapped in a flag, a Bible, or a promise of safety.
