We use a lot of words. The average human being speaks around 16,000 words a day. I encourage you to pay more attention to how many of those words you really understand or comprehend the meaning of. For me, marginalization was one of those words. Being a woman, brown/yellow woman, lower class/middle class woman, teen mother, disabled Army veteran woman - I am one of the most marginalized people in this country and had not taken the time to understand and comprehend how that shows up in my life and the lives of those that I love.
Today…I speak from the margins on behalf of others living in the corners, left and right margins, headers, and footnotes of our society.
